Thoughts on the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8!
After 3 years since the first sighting of the Prototype, the world has finally been blessed with the all-new Corvette C8 Stingray!
I am not one with my writing abilities so I am just going to try my best to share my thoughts. I think it is ABSOLUTELY insane that the starting price for these base model bad boys starts less than $60k! There are a couple of reasons why I think that is one of the most competitively priced sports cars on the market. 1. The styling of this car is beyond incredible, it looks like a Ferrari 488 in the front and the lines are so aggressive running along the sides. Sadly, the further you get to the rear it starts to look like a Camaro and I am not a fan of that in any way. 2. The Performance, the 2020 Stingray makes 490 Horsepower or 495 with the Z51 Performance Package which is about 30 horsepower more than the 460hp LT1. That power is driven by the all-new 6.2L V8 "LT2" which can do a Staggering 0-60mph in less than 3 seconds. Just for a reference, my GTR can do 0-60mph with Launch Control in 2.9 seconds and that's with my performance Stage 3($10k worth of mods) set up. The current C7 ZR1 hits 60-mph in 2.8 seconds. The Performance alone for the BASE model C8 is worth every penny!
THE CONS: While I basically love everything about this car except for the rear-end, there is however one more thing that bothers me. I understand that most Chevy enthusiasts will be very frustrated to hear that this model will have the new 8-speed dual-clutch Automatic transmission. I am not trying hate on the good ole paddle shifter boys but... I think that Chevy has a great heritage with the manual Vettes and I think it would be a shame to let it go. I believe they will be offering a manual option in the near future so don't let your guard down, possible ZR1 option?
Overview: I think this car has finally been able to catch some solid attention across the board for its stunning design(not the rear) and incredible Performance for the money. For the $60k price tag, this is one sports car you cannot look away from. Looking forward to filming a Youtube Video about it soon.
