Some car enthusiasts can hardly wait for next year for the release of new car models (a blog post about is coming out in a few days). Yet there are a few lamenting on models that are not going to be around soon. In fact, some of them had their last wave of units already early this year. Out of the multiple car models on the "chopping block" list, here are 7 discontinued cars for 2020.
A Band of BMW Cars
BMW Co. bids goodbye to three of its models: the 6 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series Gran Turismo, and 6 Series Gran Turismo. The Gran Coupe already ended its line last year. The other two follow within mid-2020. According to reports, low sales and unfavorable reviews caused these models' demise.
Cadillac XTS
It was in 2013 when Cadillac released this model as a replacement for their STS and DTS models. But this model's reign ends by this month. The reason behind this is due to the company's closing of its Ontario plant. Reports claim that their China plant is going to close soon as well, adding to the confirmation that the said model is set to discontinue. However, the company surprised everyone when they released an XTS remodel last year.
Chevrolet Cruze
Chevrolet Cruze was released to the public back in 2009. General Motors Company decided to design a compact car like Cruze to cater to the older target market to meet their desire for a smaller ride. But, as time passed by, the demand for SUV and trucks rose. As a result, the high demand cast a shadow on the Cruze line. Though it's tough for some to see this one go, 10 years running isn't bad at all.
Audi TT
For more than two decades, Audi TT has been a constant favorite among two-door car enthusiasts. And throughout these years, this model has garnered lots of positive reviews. All that thanks to its compact yet stylish and noteworthy performance. But since Audi is treading to a more energy-efficient path, they decided to let Audi TT go. A replacement, however, is announced to come out, but it's going to be an electric one instead of the fuel-powered predecessor.
Ford Fiesta
As Ford's answer to the surge of gas price increase, Ford Fiesta became a favorite of the mass at the time. Its popularity is due to its preppy design and less fuel consumption. But its popularity waned throughout the years. And as simple as that, its production ended. Ford Fiesta isn't the only model that got the final call from this company. Ford Taurus, Focus, and Fusion are also joining the firing squad.
Volkswagen Beetle
Guess we can say that bugs, like cats, have many lives. Take Volkswagen Beetle, for example. Its, dare we say, cute design made it one of the most iconic vehicles of all time. And because of its popularity, the design kept on coming back. Its revival started back in 1998 then followed in 2012. Although the 1st revival was well-received, the 2nd one didn't catch up. After a 6-year run, the iconic bug is going to say goodbye one more time. Are there any new models or revival coming up? God knows.
Jaguar XJ
The Jaguar XJ is the longest-running car model in this list of discontinued cars - 50 years. But Jaguar has decided to cut its run due to a successor coming in next year. And like Audi, Jaguar is taking the electric route. That only means that the upcoming model is most likely to be a full-electric one.
