Ford has said it over and over again for the past few years. And it is almost there finally! The 2020 Ford Bronco is coming very soon, and there's no stopping. And since Ford put its production to a halt more than 20 years ago, will it still be a hit this time around? Most probably yes, considering the massive amount of Bronco fans the world over. The hype and the demand for a new Bronco is still high - no wonder Ford is adamant about releasing the Bronco's sixth generation. So when is the 2020 Ford Bronco's release date? And what should one expect? Below are the details.
To be real, Ford hasn't released many details on how the new 2020 Ford Bronco is going to look. But the manufacturer left a video teaser, showing the detail on its release - which is Spring next year. Watch the video teaser below.
Main Features
The new Bronco is most probably to be similar to the likes of Wrangler (its targeted competition) and a few other off-roaders in the market today. But Ford promised that their upcoming all-purpose vehicle could withstand any terrains and trails possible. Features like air roof and front and rear axles are some of the features disclosed. For those who are praying for a two-door option, don't get your hopes up for now. Reliable predictions suggest that it's going to have a five-door feature.
Appearance
Many car blogs have already made their assumptions. Some already made some renderings on how the 2020 Ford Bronco should look. But for now, we can only guess. Rumors from various sites stated the SUV is going to have an Everest-like frame. The Ford Everest has a typical SUV body that is similar to a Ranger, a model sold in the Asia Pacific region. But this rumor was debunked right after Ford released another photo of the new Bronco covered in sheet during a press event. Judging from the silhouette, it looked like the new Bronco has a boxy frame and a narrow roof. The tapered roofing makes it light enough to remove and replace so you can easily replace it with a mesh roofing.
Raj Nair, Ford's former Product Development Chief, stated that despite its similarities with the Ranger - body frame-wise - the 2020 Ford Bronco is going to be a one-of-its-kind vehicle. And since this is not confirmed, the frame of the new Bronco is most likely to be made of aluminum material to make the doors easier to detach.
Drivetrain
Many car enthusiasts are hoping that the 2020 Ford Bronco is going to have a drivetrain that mimics the Ford Ranger. The Ranger, at least in the US, has a 2.3-liter EcoBoost, a 270 HP and a torque of 310lbs/ft. So if the Ranger has all these specifications, it's only right to assume that the upcoming Bronco is going to have the same engine and transmission.
Manual Transmission?
Rumor has it that the new Bronco has a seven-speed manual transmission, given that it might have the engine and transmission specs similar to that of a Ranger. Considering that it's going to compete with the Jeep Wrangler, a manual transmission would come as a no surprise. It's clear and evident that the 2020 Ford Bronco is groomed to be a vehicle intended for extreme off-road adventure, so it only fits into releasing it with a manual transmission.
Other Things to Check Out
Because zero-emission vehicles are being pushed in the market lately, the Bronco may have a hybrid option for those who are taking the environment-friendly route. Based on Ford's earning report for 1st Q 2018, you'd see that hybrid versions of F-150s and Mustangs were on the rise. If you are going for a hybrid option, the 2020 Ford Bronco might be just something you're going to aim for.
